Green ingredients you should be adding to your smoothies

Superfoods, greens and Kakadu Plum Powder are a quick and easy way to get some amazing nutrients and vitamins into your body. Let's be honest though, sometimes green smoothies can be a little too green. When we know it is packed with vitamins and nutrients, the intense flavour and taste can sometimes be overpowering. But the trick with smoothies is to know that a little bit of something can go a long way. So, let's look at some key ingredients to add to your green smoothie

Avocado

They are loaded with healthy fats that not only will your body love, but your skin too. Loaded with potassium, fibre and other nutrients, it is one little fruit that boost your smoothie real fast and make it extra creamy. If you add 1/2 an avocado or even a quarter, your smoothie is going to have that green ingredient that doesn't overpower the flavour.

Spinach

Who remembers Popeye and his spinach induced cans that gave him instant muscles and strength. Although maybe a little exaggerated, spinach is also an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin A, vitamin C and folic acid as well as being a good source of manganese, magnesium, iron and vitamin B2. When selecting your fresh spinach from your local greengrocer, you want to look for a bunch that is medium to dark green with no signs of wilting or decay. When it is supper fresh, the nutritional components are going to be a whole lot more intense and powerful.

Kale

Another super leafy green, it is known to be one of the most nutrient rich vegetables. A cup of kale can have up to 206% of the RDA of Vitamin A and 684% of the RDA of Vitamin K. WOW! Loaded with antioxidants, kale is said to be even among the leading drivers of ageing and many diseases, including cancer. Why wouldn't you add a few leaves into your smoothie. Again, when selecting your kale, look for a fresh, green bunch.

Putting it all together, with a little Kakadu Plum Powder, you have one high nutrient, antioxidant, vitamin boosting creamy smoothie!
